This is Mirror Lake which was 1 block from our townhouse. Other units in our resort have this view. We had the opposite view - lots of trees. This lake is 3 miles around and surrounded by a hiking trail, lovely homes, inns, cafes, etc. Lake Placid is just north of this lake and has remained more remote.
No motor boats are allowed.
Monday morning we visited the museum run by the local historical society. It had been the train station. Lots of photos of people engaged in all sorts of winter sports, typically on the lake going way back to the early days of photography. Here's a shot of the exterior:
We had lunch at The Cottage, one of the many restaurants on the lake, but this one was recommended by one of the lawyers in my office. Turns out it was a terrific choice.
Later we did a wine tasting at an outlet for wines from the Finger Lakes. As usual, Renee was right to say we should give these wines a taste. Left with some nice Bordeaux blends.
Still hadn't taken out the tripod, big 500 mm. lens and D90. I had been too busy relaxing. I
